7 For All Mankind Jeans Fit Guide
Finding jeans would be much easier if every style name explained how the jeans actually fit. Unfortunately, names like Stovepipe, Josefina, Dojo and Lotta are not terribly helpful until someone translates them.
This guide compares the 7 For All Mankind fits currently carried at Lemonberry, including how high they sit, how they fall through the leg and which shapes may feel most familiar. Our inventory changes throughout the season, but the fit information will help you narrow down where to begin.
Why We Keep Coming Back to 7 For All Mankind
There was a time when Lemonberry had an entire wall of premium denim. We carried a lot of it, from a lot of different brands.
Over the years, though, we started to notice something. Our customers kept coming back to their 7 For All Mankind jeans.
They aren't usually the flashiest jeans in the room. They just fit really well. They're comfortable, the quality holds up, and once someone finds a 7 fit they love, they tend to buy it again — and again.
We've seen it more times than we could possibly count: someone isn't quite sure premium denim is worth it, tries on a pair of 7s, and suddenly understands what all the fuss is about.
If you've never tried them, that's our advice: try a pair. You may understand pretty quickly why so many of our customers won't go back.
A quick note about rise: Measurements can sound oddly scientific when you are simply trying to buy trousers. Throughout this guide, we explain whether each jean has a lower, mid, high or very high rise, with measurements included where they are useful.
Skinny Jeans
Skinny jeans sit close through the hip, thigh and lower leg. Our current 7 For All Mankind selection focuses on ankle-length styles with a clean, fitted shape.
High Waist Ankle Skinny

A high-rise skinny jean that sits close through the hip, thigh and lower leg. The ankle length keeps the shape clean and makes it easy to wear with flats, boots or longer tops.
Ankle Skinny
Fitted Rise · Skinny Leg · Ankle Length
A fitted ankle jean with a narrow leg and cropped length. This is an easy choice for anyone who still prefers the familiar shape of a skinny jean without excess fabric gathering around the ankle.
Straight-Leg Jeans
Straight-leg jeans are usually the easiest place to start if you want a balanced shape. They sit clean through the leg without feeling as narrow as a skinny jean or as full as a wide leg.
Kimmie Straight
Mid Rise · Slim Straight Leg · Full Length
Kimmie is a mid-rise straight jean with a slightly slimmer shape through the leg. Its 9-inch front rise sits lower than today’s high-rise styles, but it is not an extremely low-rise jean. The full-length leg has a 33-inch inseam and a narrow 14-inch opening.
This is one of our most dependable everyday fits: clean, familiar and easy to wear without feeling as tight as a skinny jean.
Calie Straight
Mid Rise · Easy Straight Leg · Full or Ankle Length
Calie is an easy mid-rise straight jean with a little more room through the leg than Kimmie. Its 9½-inch rise sits below a true high rise while still giving comfortable coverage.
The full-length version has a 31-inch inseam, while the ankle version finishes at approximately 28 inches.
Cropped Alexa
High Rise · Wide Straight Leg · Cropped Length
Cropped Alexa is a high-rise trouser jean with an 11-inch rise, so it sits around the natural waist on many people. The 26½-inch inseam and wider 19-inch opening give it a cropped, polished shape rather than a narrow straight-leg look.
Stovepipe Straight
High Rise · Fuller Straight Leg · Full or Ankle Length
Stovepipe is a high-rise straight jean with an 11-inch rise and a fuller, more trouser-like leg. The full-length version has a 32-inch inseam, while the ankle version finishes at approximately 27 inches.
Compared with Kimmie, Stovepipe has noticeably more room through the lower leg and a wider 19-inch opening.
Boyfriend Jeans
Boyfriend jeans offer a little more room through the hip and thigh while still looking neat. They are relaxed without feeling extremely oversized.
Josefina
Lower Rise · Slim Boyfriend Leg · Ankle Length
Josefina is 7 For All Mankind’s slim boyfriend fit. Although the brand describes it as low rise, its 10-inch front rise is better understood as a lower or relaxed rise compared with today’s very high-rise jeans. It has a straight leg and an ankle-length silhouette that feels relaxed without becoming baggy.
This is a good fit for someone moving away from skinny jeans who does not yet want a wide or oversized leg.
Vanity is currently part of our core assortment, although 7 For All Mankind is moving away from this wash. Rozie will be joining our selection soon as a different, slimmer ankle fit.
Bootcut Jeans
Bootcut jeans stay fitted through the hip and upper leg before widening gently below the knee. They add balance and shape without creating the fuller sweep of a true flare.
Kimmie Bootcut
Mid Rise · Slim Bootcut Leg · Full Length
Kimmie Bootcut has a clean, fitted shape through the hip and thigh with a subtle opening at the hem. It is a good choice if you want the balance of a bootcut without a great deal of extra width through the leg.
Classic Bootcut
Mid Rise · Classic Bootcut Leg · Full Length
The classic Bootcut has a 9½-inch mid rise, meaning it sits below a true high rise but still offers more coverage than older low-rise denim. It has a 34-inch inseam and an 18½-inch leg opening.
A shorter 32-inch tailorless version may be offered in certain washes.
The Leggy Bootcut
Mid Rise · Gentle Flare · Full Length
The Leggy Bootcut has a 10-inch mid rise and a slightly fuller opening than the classic Bootcut. Its 33-inch inseam and 20-inch leg opening create a longer, leaner shape without becoming a dramatic flare.
Flare Jeans
Flare jeans stay closer through the hip and upper leg before opening more noticeably below the knee. They create more movement and drama than a bootcut, although some styles are surprisingly easy to wear.
Dojo
Mid Rise · Trouser Flare · Full Length
Dojo is one of 7 For All Mankind’s signature trouser flares. Its 9-inch rise is a true mid rise, sitting noticeably lower than today’s high-waisted styles. It has a long, relaxed flare with a 34-inch inseam and 22-inch leg opening.
Dojo Tailorless
Mid Rise · Trouser Flare · 32-Inch Inseam
Dojo Tailorless keeps the same mid-rise trouser shape as the original Dojo but uses a shorter 32-inch inseam. It gives you the full flare without automatically requiring alterations.
Cropped Dojo
Trouser Flare · Cropped Length
Cropped Dojo keeps the trouser-inspired shape of the original Dojo but finishes around the ankle. It is easier to wear with flats, loafers or ankle boots and does not require the same long hem as the full-length style.
Ali Flare
Fitted Rise · Streamlined Flare · Full Length
Ali Flare has a fitted upper leg that opens gradually toward the hem. Compared with Dojo, it feels cleaner and more streamlined rather than soft and trouser-like.
High Waist Slim Kick Flare
High Rise · Slim Leg · Subtle Kick Flare
The Slim Kick Flare sits high at the waist and stays narrow through most of the leg before opening slightly at the hem. It gives you a hint of flare without the volume of Ali or Dojo.
Wide-Leg Jeans
Wide-leg jeans offer more room from the hip or thigh down. Some feel like relaxed trousers, while others create a much fuller palazzo shape.
Lotta
High Rise · Palazzo Leg · Full Length
Lotta is a high-rise palazzo jean with an 11-inch rise, so it sits around the natural waist on many people. Its 34-inch inseam and 24-inch opening create a long, flowing leg with plenty of movement.
Tess Trouser
High Mid Rise · Relaxed Trouser Leg · Full Length
Tess Trouser has an 11-inch rise, placing it at the high end of mid rise and close to what many shoppers would consider high rise. It has a relaxed leg and a 34-inch inseam, but its 19-inch opening is less dramatic than Lotta.
This is a good fit if you like a trouser shape but do not want the full sweep of a palazzo jean.
Ultra High Rise Cropped Jo

Jo has a 12-inch rise, making it one of the highest rises in the collection. The cropped version has a 27-inch inseam and a full 24-inch leg opening.
It is a strong choice if you want maximum waist coverage with a modern, shorter wide-leg silhouette.
Willow Palazzo
Wide Palazzo Leg · Lightweight Linen Blend
Willow Palazzo is included in our wide-leg collection, although it is a lightweight linen-blend pant rather than a traditional denim jean. It has a fuller, airier drape and is best suited to warmer weather.
How to Compare the Fits
Start With the Rise
The front rise measures from the crotch seam to the top of the waistband. The measurement is useful, but the plain-English description matters more:
Lower rise: generally sits below the belly button and lower than most current high-rise denim.
Mid rise: usually sits below the natural waist, often around 9 to 10 inches.
High rise: generally sits close to the natural waist, often around 10½ to 11 inches.
Very high rise: usually measures around 12 inches and sits noticeably above many standard high-rise jeans.
Check the Inseam
The inseam is the inside leg measurement. Ankle and cropped styles are shorter, while many full-length bootcut, flare and wide-leg jeans have inseams between 32 and 34 inches.
A tailorless style gives you the intended full-length shape with a shorter inseam, which can save you from altering the hem.
Look at the Leg Opening
A smaller leg opening creates a narrower ankle. A larger opening creates a straighter, wider or more dramatically flared silhouette.
The measurement is useful when comparing similar-looking styles. For example, Kimmie Straight has a much narrower opening than Stovepipe, while Dojo has more flare than the classic Bootcut.
